• Light and fruit driven
France La Croix Rouge, Vin de Pays d'Oc 2007/8 (12% abv)

A classic Languedoc red, this has a soft fruity style with cherry and plum notes alongside herby thyme and rosemary flavours. This has great ripe tannins.

Sicily Corvina Cabernet Sauvignon, Thesaurum 2006/8 (13% abv)
Perfumed almost floral nose with cherries, violets and cassis. The palate is fresh and bright with deep black olive and blackberry flavours and subtle peppery spice.

Spain Casa de I'Ermita Joven tinto 2008 (13.5% abv)
Clean, with a red garnet core and dark violet edges. It is full bodied and fruity, tasty and floral on the palate. Reminiscent of peach, raspberry and mature pears. Firm and ripe tannins, well-balanced with a long finish.

• Soft and juicy
France Morgon Les Griottes, Mommessin 2006/7 (13% abv)
A complex nose of wild cherries, apricots and peach. More robust and full-bodied than most beaujolais crus while being one of the few beaujolais that will age.

Chile Merlot San Rafael, 2008/9 (13% abv)
Ultra smooth, juicy Merlot with jammy plum, blackberry and damson fruit served up with lashings of mocha coffee and chocolate. A classic Chilean Merlot that offers an awful lot of pleasure per pound.

Italy Chianti Castellani, Tuscany 2007 (12.3% abv)
Medium-bodied, floral red with violets and cherry blossom bursting into bloom on the nose. The palate is fresh and racy with a fine weight of crisp red and black fruit, cinnamon spice and ripe, savoury tannins.

• Medium Bodied with plenty of fruit
Australia Pinot Noir Madfish, Western Australia, 2008 (14.5% abv)
Concentrated black cherry and with some strawberry and cream flavours with underlying characters of earthiness, compost and some spicy leathery notes.

Spain Rioja, Dinastia Vivanco Crianza, 2005(13.5% abv)
Deep cherry red colour with violet rim. Rich aromas of ripe fruit, vanilla and spice. Good backbone with soft fruit and well integrated toasty oak flavours.

Australia Shiraz/Grenache St Hallet, 2008 (14.5% abv)
The rich, dense Grenache fruit is matched by the old vine powerful Shiraz, whilst Touriga Nacional (a variety traditionally used to make Port) weaves vitality into this compelling blend.

France Nuits St Georges Roche de Bellene Vieilles Vignes 2007 75 cl
Potel's Nuits St. Georges, Vieilles Vignes is a new wine selection for us as we needed to introduce a top drawer Burgundy. The fruit leaps out of the glass, rich and plummy, and continues across the palate to a tightly-wound, concentrated finish.

• Unusual and Spicy
Argentina Malbec Alamos, Mendoza 2007 (13.6 %abv)
Rich, ripe Malbec with bags of black fruit, spice, violets and chocolate all wrapped up with gloriously chewy tannins.

USA Zinfandel Delicato Family Vineyards, Old Vine 2008 (14% abv)
Rich fruit flavours of blackberry jam and spice. Full-bodied with black cherry, vanilla and pepper notes and ripe, soft tannins.

S Africa Pinotage Saam Mountain Vineyards 2009 (14 %abv)
Dark red/purple colour. Sweet spicy flavours on the palate with a medium structure and an elegant mouth feel.

• Full bodied reds with oak
ltaly Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Nicolis 2003/4 (14% abv)
This is a big, rich wine with deep, concentrated dried fruit, chocolate, spice and plum flavours. Ripe tannins and fresh acidity balance the intensity of flavour.

France Chateau La Bastide de Dauzac, Margaux 2006 (13% abv)
A gentle palate, quite appealing, balanced and as fresh as the nose suggested. Good fruit, ripe texture, ripe tannins. This is a lively wine with an interesting and crisp flavour.

France Chateaux Tour Pibran, Pauillac, 2007 (13.5 %abv)
A cracking claret with classic smoky red and black berries on the nose and a palate which oozes aristocratic class: cherries, plums, cedar and tobacco with juicy tannins and a fresh, food friendly finish.

France Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Louis Bernard, 2007 (14% abv)
Nice bouquet of black fruits (plum) with spicy and balsamic notes. Palate: structure based on smooth tannins with a long finish.
