The food in this restaurant is absolutely fabulous, The fish dishes were simply the best... you will not find better in London anywhere.

Took a party of 10 to Chez Mumtaj in St.Albans, from the moment we arrived to when we left I could not fault it in any way, the service was first class , the food was excellent, I have not stopped telling friends about the food and flavours all week. Will definitely be going back soon.

My first visit to Chez Mumtaj and I was not disappointed. Everything about the experience was fantastic, I really could not fault it. The food was to die for, presentation first class, the ambience was perfect, smart but relaxed and the tables were not too close together, service good and friendly and not over-obtrusive, presentation beautiful and the German wine that we chose was good value and delicious.

What a nice lunch again - this is becoming our regular haunt... £15 including a glass of wine is super for what must soon become a michelin starred restaurant.

This is the best food I have had in a restaurant for years. Although slow to come out , it really was worth the wait. The food is original and exciting but you have to pay for it. I highly recommend Chez Mumtaj.

St.Albans doesn't deserve a restaurant as good as Chez Mumtaj. Really creative food, in a similar vein to London's Cinnamon Club but much better value (although more expensive then many of the local restaurants ). I have no hesitation recommending it.

Chez Mumtaj is a lovely place with delicious food and generous portions. The decor is stunning and the staff very professional and friendly. Food menu was big and the wine selection was good as well. Will definately return!

Restaurant decor is very elegant. Good cocktail list, enjoyed our pre-dinner drinks in the bar area. I liked the waiter carrying my drink to our table from the bar and the overall service was excellent.~We were made to feel valued customers . The food was totally delicious. I rarely have fish in an Indian restaurant as it is usually frozen but my monkfish was clearly fresh and I was also pleased with the portion size. My husband and I really enjoyed our evening and will definately go back

Probably the best restaurant in St Albans. The quality of the food is great, you can really taste all the spices used and herbs used. Great service too.

Wonderful restaurant (opened in 2008) that mixes French haute cuisine with South-East Asian flavours and dishes. I've been there several times since it opened and it never disappoints. Try the set menu at £28.50 if you want to sample Chad Rahman and his team's various superb dishes. The Pak Choi and shitake mushroom dish is one of the best... and I usually steer a wide birth round vegetarian options! One of the best main courses is the Seafood Risotto: a mixture of creamy flavours that leaves you wanting for more.

Does not look very inspiring from the outside but amazing decor inside. Excellent service, tempting menu and gorgeous food! Seafood biryani was absolutely out of this world!!!
